Welcome Sloan Schmidt

A few weeks ago, I threw my sister-in-law a baby shower to welcome Sloan Schmidt to the Schmidt side of the family! I had a lot of fun throwing this baby shower, and with the help of Maria Everding, it was a success!  We had do so much fun planning, and choosing everything for this shower! There was enough pink there to make a Pepto Bismol commercial jealous!!!
Straubs Chicken Salad sandwiches were served, along with a very tasty Greek salad, and for desert the guests had their choice of white or chocolate cupcakes with butter cream icing!!

One of my new favorite things to make is these adorable diaper cakes! Easy to make and you can really get creative with them!

The guests drank Cherry Vodka lemonade out of these adorable mason jars!

This picture really does no justice for these cupcakes!! They were delicious! Made by A & L Bakery!

Helpful Holiday Hints:
©   Bring some color to the table
§  Don't just use one color, use lots of colors!!! Think oranges, reds ,yellows and browns!
©   utilize those place cards that you see in the stores, or better yet,  why not make your own to match your holiday decor
©   Fresh fruit and veggies on the table as table pieces (not to be  eaten until after Thanksgiving) is a big hit this fall!
§ utilize those hurricane candle holders and soak some berries in some water and tie a nice little ribbon around it..
©   Don't forget the centerpiece!!!
§ Flowers are always a nice touch, but why not utilize some pumpkins and leaves to make it really decorative!!!
©      Not enough room on the table? Serve buffet style!!

Nikki and BJ

Meet Nikki and BJ
An outgoing Texas girl and a shy St. Louis boy
Two people who fell in love on the spot

They say that you just know when you fall in love with someone, and for Nikki and BJ it was instant. Their connection from day one was so strong that they both just knew 6 months in that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. Valentine's Day this year it happened, they became engaged and are now planning their intimate gathering for September 2011! Watching the two of them as they are together, is like watching two people who have been together forever, they are that connected. They share a lot of the same hobbies, (baseball being their number one) and they both bring to the relationship an array of things that the other one is missing!!

The best thing about helping plan this wedding is that Nikki is my sister, little sister at that! Besides being the MOH, I am also the wedding planner! Let's just say this has been a lot of fun!!!  Nikki has been by far the easiest bride! She really just wanted the most girly girl dress; and let me tell you it's girly (I've seen it)! She also wanted something small and intimate, which is why she chose the beautiful Windows off Washington for her ceremony and reception site. The place is amazing, there are so many neat things about the place, and it’s going to make for an awesome reception.

One word sums up her "theme" = FUN! And in my best Julia Roberts southern voice from Steel Magnolias "Her Colors are TEAL, LIME GREEN and BLACK" and let's just say the place is going to be lit up in color. Nikki just wants there to be lots of color, and lots of cute little details; easy enough! I love color! I think color brings about so many different qualities to a wedding, and the way you use color makes the world of a difference! I am looking forward to all the fun things we have planned so far and eager to see this bride (my little sister) and groom get married next year!

Anna and Lucas

Meet Anna and Lucas
A country raised girl, and a city raised boy
Two people who you think could not be any more different....
Think again.....

Anna and Lucas are yet, another couple to whom I have become close to over the past year. They are the most loving couple I have ever met. Their undying love for each other, really makes me think of the whole Romeo and Juliet love (of course minus the whole suicide thing),  They both bring to their relationship so many different qualities, that these two were just meant for each other.

Anna and Lucas will be having a "destination" wedding as she calls it, in Jefferson City where she is from, next June! When I first sat down with Anna to talk about her wedding, it was a true girly girl theme. A true romantic at heart, her wedding will be a sea of charcoal gray and pale pink, with more candles than you see on a Bachelorette Season finale, and her favorite of course, PEONIES! If there is one thing I can say about helping Anna plan her wedding is that she is OPEN to so many suggestions, and really just goes with the flow. Her biggest want for the wedding was the "perfect" dress and a fully stocked bar! Her wedding is well into becoming a great party, and even more, going to be everything she ever wanted!

I am so excited to have been chosen to help her plan this wedding!!! It has been fun getting to see her so excited about all the little details, she reminds me alot of me when I was planning!

Looking forward to June, and to the "destination" wedding in Jeff City, stay posted for more details!!

Kelly and Jason

Meet Kelly and Jason
A Cornhusker girl, and a Tiger boy
One couple who loves a great game

This is one awesome couple to whom I've gotten to know closely over the past two years!!! They have a big day coming up next September 3rd, and lucky me; I will be helping them by not only being a part of their wedding party, but I have been doing some helping with the planning as well!!!

After spending time with Jason and Kelly there are two words that stick out above the rest... CRAZY FUN!  They love to have fun, and they can have fun just about anywhere anytime! They share alot of the same qualities and attributes, which make them the perfect pair. Aside from their fun loving attitudes on life; they are also very passionate about what they do, and even more passionate about each other. It is great to see the two of them exude a love for each other, even when they are rooting for opposite college football teams. Kelly being born in Nebraska is a Cornhusker fan, and Jason being an alumnae from Mizzou is a Tiger fan; let's just say a little bit of competitiveness is a good thing though, right?

Jason and Kelly's wedding is going to be a very Nebraska Fall themed wedding, with colors of plum for the bridesmaids dresses and an assortment of fall colors for everything else; this wedding is going to be perfect for the Nebraska home grown girl. To top it off and to set the tone for the wedding think, candy apples , and pumpkin vases!  Aside from the decor, the one thing that I do know about this wedding is that it is going to be one heck of a party!

Being their friend, and being a helper in their wedding planning process I am a little prejudice, but truly, this couple is going to create a lifetime of memories and I could not be more excited to share in their big day with them!!

All of these amazing engagement pictures were done by the very talented

Stay tuned for more updates on this Conrhusker/Tiger Couple

It's Official

Well, I did it!! I finally figured out what it was that I loved doing so much, and made it a reality. I love planning parties, I love hosting them, I love weddings, and mostly I love planning weddings! I love everything there is about planning the "perfect" event. I DID it, I made my vision a reality. I put my mind to something and it's real. I am looking forward to this new adventure and what becomes of it!  So Ta....Da.... JSchmidt Event Planning is ready to make those visions of the perfect baby shower, bridal shower, and of course wedding a reality!!!!

With that...

In the past few months I have had the pleasure of helping a few of my favorite ladies plan their perfect dream day! All of my brides have different tastes and expectations of what they envisioned their big day to be. I look forward to seeing all of their visions (and some of the hardwork we have put in), being unveiled on their wedding day. Stay tuned for more upcoming news on these lovely brides, and maybe a sneak peak into their engagement sessions!!!!!!
